Definition of COVID-19

COVID-19 should be reserved to describe those that have a positive coronavirus laboratory test.  The WHO introduced the name COVID-19 which was picked up by the press but refers to the actual disease, not the virus.

The correct name for the virus is SARS-CoV-2 which is the Genbank name for the virus.  The name is based on the fact that this virus has >95% sequence similarity to SARS-CoV which was the cause of SARS.
