What is a Paternity Test?
Paternity testing is used to identify the biological relationships between individuals, usually to determine the linkage between a child and a possible father. Also, this test is post-natal, meaning it is conducted after a child is born. Moreover, genetic markers are measured in the individuals being tested to determine their relationship.
A buccal swab is typically used for collecting DNA samples in paternity testing.
Different types of Paternity Testing?
Applied InGENuity offers a number of different paternity testing options: standard paternity testing, which involves collecting samples from the child, mother, and potential father, and motherless paternity testing, which is conducted when the child and potential father are available without the mother.
The test result turnaround time for paternity testing is typically 3-4 business days. Express testing can be conducted for an additional charge. However, note that the result turnaround times are only an estimate and may be subject to change.
No special preparation is required for paternity testing.
